I have 3-4 downspouts that are no longer “attached” to the pipe that runs up from the ground, leaving in some places a 3 or 4″ gap from the downspout to the ground pipe. Settling around the house has caused this. I need to have an extension put on the downspout to insure water is draining away from house. 4 1/4 x 3 inch downspout in almond color.
At least one downspout will need to be adjusted as it will not go “straight” into the drain in the ground.
Can you provide estimate? Can I provide pictures to help with estimate? Please reply. Thanks
Thank you for your recent visit at Professional Gutter & Drain. In follow up to your question:
Usually when the underground drain line begins to separate from the downspout, this is a sign that the underground drain line is backing up and eroding the dirt around the drain riser, thus causing it to sink and separate from the downspout.
My recommendation for you would be to set up a drain service call. The drain service call will determine whether or not the underground drain line has a clog, or see if there is roots slowing the water flow and causing it to back up. If you want to verify prior to setting up a service call, you can put your garden hose in the drain line for at least 20 minutes (Unless begins to back up sooner). When doing this, make sure the water flow out at the exit point is having a steady flow just like the flow of the water hose. If it is trickling out then something is slowing the water down.
If you determine that there is a clog, then I would again recommend a drain service call. We dispatch a 2 man crew in a fully equipped truck. They have the snaking equipment, the camera equipment, and all the specialty tools/materials to make any small minor spot repairs. Within 60 minutes of time they will have either found the cause of the issue and resolved it, or they have a really good idea of whats going on and what they need to do to solve it. If they are able to repair it at the time of the service call, they will also raise the drain riser up to re-connect to the downspout itself.
With this service, we do charge $195.00 for the initial hour worth of work, and $45.00 per man per hour thereafter (2 man crew). These do typically use the full hour, and if more time is required, our crew will contact you to update you and to request more time. We are currently about 2-5 business days on the service calls.
