Do you have standing water along the side of your home?

Not only is standing water an eyesore, but it is also a health hazard. Standing water can lead to the breeding of mosquitoes that can carry many infectious diseases. Is a french drain installation necessary for your home?

In many circumstances, a french drain will alleviate the standing water around your home. Some things that determine whether or not a french drain is a possible solution for you are:

1.) If a french drain is installed, do we have somewhere to take the water to?

2.) How much water is being funneled through the area?

Water flows down hill, and if there is no where for the water to drain to, then installing a french drain will not be suitable for your home. If you have a good grade on your yard, or another drain line that we can tie into, then a french drain might be a possible solution for you depending on how much water is in the area. A french drain can withstand about 2-3 feet of water on either side of it. Of which, it can take a few days to actually drain. The important thing is the water is actually draining. In the instance that there is too much water for the french drain to handle, then we may need to consider installing some catch basins at the low points to get more water into the drain line at a faster rate.

If you are still unsure as to whether or not a french drain is suitable for your home, then give us a call! We will send out our estimator to do an assessment to see if whether or not you are a qualified candidate for a french drain.
